View this email in your browser Dear Aamir, 2022 has been an exciting year at Canadian Geographic. For one thing, it's been my first year as editor-in-chief — a dream job that I'm amazed and honoured to do every day. This year, we've sparked conversations that matter: about the impact of invasive species on the Great Lakes, the changing soundscapes of the natural world, and the rights of nature to exist in an unaltered state. We continued our decade-plus tradition of celebrating emerging and established photographers across Canada, hosting two successful photo competitions with cash prizes totalling $20,000. We were especially proud to recognize Jean-Simon Bégin and Brittany Crossman as our Canadian Photographer of the Year and Canadian Wildlife Photographer of the Year respectively. We have an exciting lineup of stories planned for 2023, from a deep dive (pun intended) into the future of aquaculture in Atlantic Canada to a rare glimpse at Canada's most endangered mammal, the Vancouver Island marmot. We need your help so that we can continue our award-winning tradition of storytelling about the people, landscapes and wildlife of Canada.
